Today we completed the photo shoot at the school. We’ll have some pics from that to post in the next few days. We were wiped out – an afternoon in the hot sun takes it out of you! We then went to our dear friends, Ron & Kathy Berger, to relax, visit and eat chinese...

yeah we cant even say the word hot dog in our house if we do, she thinks she deserves one and goes and scratches on the fridge door until we give her one, and no she doesnt control us, not at all. Wow that sounds like quite the project, but how exciting when you get to the decorating part, I am glad I get pictures of the process. Do you know what your decor theme will be?? Have fun!! lol

Kerri, thanks so much for your comment. To answer your question, yes, I interpreted for the deaf for many years. I started out in church, learning sign and then eventually being put in “the hot seat” because there was nobody else. Then I was hired at my church to coordinate and basically “establish a deaf program’ under a pastor, of course, to write newsletters to deaf members and help train interpreters and answer questions from pastors. That lasted for 8-1/2 years, but all that time until my divorce I still interpreted at church. Then right after my divorce I went into interpreting professionally to support myself, until fall 2002, when I became a teacher. I remember you’re from a deaf family and in one post you gave your niece’s website address and I went there. I love her vblogs. Sometimes I think in sign, although the further from the profession I get, the more it fades, although I don’t think I’ll ever forget it completely; it’s part of my soul… you know how that is. Hooray for lights! Every time I try to view a slideshow, my explorer encounters a problem and closes:( The first time it happened was on the Yosemite one. I could view the ones before that. I love how you keep us posted on your progress! Love to both of you, Gerrie

I like the first set too! Wow you guys did some great edgy things with Sara’s photos, I love them. Did she fall in love with them? So did Marquita recommend Profoto over the other brands, or did you get those because you liked my Profotos? I am just wondering if she still likes Profoto over the other systems. BTW-Did I leave my remote cord in your van? I haven’t been able to find it since we went to Yosemite. I thought it would have showed up and it didn’t so I didn’t buy another one. We are doing very long night exposures in Yosemite and it is a must.

I haven’t seen the doggles…lol I got these last summer at a little craft fair here in our town. A lady had the sunglasses and hats. I’m sure you can imagine how thrilled my babies were for me to purchase them and parade them around all day! lol

RYC: Oh, I was happy to enlarge it…It is funny because on my computer it was fairly large, but when I go to my dh’s offcie, everything appears much differently. Thank you for lettting me know! And thanks for the update on Mark…My prayers are definitely with him. And as for the Seays, yes, they had three children. Before they died, their youngest daughter got married and their middle child had a baby…God brought them home for a visit and then HE took them to be forever with HIM. They were only in their forties when they died. When we get to heaven, Kerri, I will take you to meet them! What an impact they had on my life. And my prayer has ever been that I can be a Lee and Alan Seay to others…I can sing the Ray Boltz song with great conviction…YEs, thank you, for I am a life that was changed….Thanks for letting me ramble…E-mail me some time and let me know how you are, ok?! Hey, i been comin by, just not time to leave comments sometimes. We have been so busy with painting the apartment. It is hard doing it with so much stuff in here, but we are simplifying everything. That’s so neat that your daughter has a dance recital coming up–what type of class is she taking? I took jazz and tap in fifth grade, but ended up just sticking with the piano. However, I’d really like to take tap again–it just seems like a lot of fun! Will you be posting pics from the recital?

Hello There….I finally made it to your site. The pictures look great. I was reading further down your site about Mark’s vision, and everything he’s been going through. I believe it is a good example of what God is continuing to do. It is a refocusing of the direction and the path He is laying down for you to follow. If I understand the question correctly, I think he teaches mostly topically… but uses expository elements also. Usually it’s “meat in due season”, like scriptures that go with Lent or Easter time, or the Discovery Series book we’re going through, etc. I like a little bit of both, but I think “topics” are easier to wrap your mind around. My pastor preaches expositorally, sometimes topically, and sometimes a combination of the two. I love good expository preaching, which in my opinion is becoming a lost art, or gift.

I don’t think my pastor teaches either way…it’s more about issues that are going on in the church…not good. I am praying about this place, I am there for the worship ministries…I get my word elsewhere. I love expository teaching…that’s where I learn the most…it challenges me to dig deeper. I miss you girl. Well I like expository best….but topical can be good too. Our pastor does a bit of both. We’ve only been at Adventure since January and he just got back from a sabbatical, so we’ve only heard him twice, but he seems to be pretty balanced in both ways of speaking…so yeah, ok, I don’t know what I’m saying anymore… We really like it there….today about 30 people were water baptized!!! The Lord has been showing me how irregardless of the “type” of Christian church it is (denominational or not, jumpin’ in the aisles worship or quiet reverent worship etc.), He is there, and people are getting saved! Amen! Love you!

Overall the Pastor uses expository, but he also does topical. I enjoy all kinds of Bible studies & preaching — character, included. But I would have to say that overall, my fave is expository . . . taking each verse as it comes – in context, comparing Scripture to Scripture, and not going off on topical tangents (at least not too often).
Expository is by far what I crave most! I want to dig in and cross reference scripture and talk about what the passages say to us and what they mean to our lives and what we know of God by his revealed word to us. Topical is okay once in a while but many times it begins to reek of self help and too many churches get stuck there too long. We know…we left one that did not expound on the word enough. I suppose I would say our pastor teaches in both formats. Our BSF is expository and we are growing from it in leaps and bounds…SO amazing when you look deeply at a passage and learn to ask questions and see character and not just breeze by a passage as a story…so amazing what is there. Genesis alone is JAM packed with amazing stuff! God is good!!!!
