@dimsom - Victor we actually have a real wedding with an image of the bride running and it looks like she is leaving the wedding but she is actually running so the groom didnt see her while we were getting her bride and bridesmaids shots…lol

@slmret - Thanks! It was really neat. There were supposed to be 12 models there but Mark only saw 5. which meant alot of photogs (60) had to jockey for positions for those models that did show up. Too bad because it made it difficuolt to get the shots you really wanted to get. Mark has some shots where there wer photogs walking right into his frame! Sheesh!

Yeah but I am sooo tired. I think I am going to take a nap before they kick us out of our place at noon…lol I wish you guys could have made it. So much stuff!!! Think they are moving it to the MGM next year. Much bigger and things will all be easily accesible rather than running all over the place!

I really missed you guys alot. I thought for sure Mark would have been posting pictures all over your blog from Vegas, but NONE!
The economy and our business is taking its toll and I wonder how much longer WPPI will be putting on huge trade shows when people are running out of money, loosing their homes and gasoline will be costing $7 per gallon?

WPPI was quiet. It was a much smaller turnout than last year. The trade show aisles were noticably sparse and in the speaker rooms there were many empty seats. You could certainly feel ‘something’ in the air this year.

I actually took a student to see Phantom when it was touring in 98. He was a really poor kid, but I had played some of the music for my class and he fell in love with it..so I got permission to take him to the show..it was AMAZING watching his eyes light up..I took him to a REAL Italian place for dinner after..it was so cool..of coarse in these days I could never do anything like that..but I am grateful I could back then..
How is sweet Jayden..I have praying for his little tummy!
We are having a blizzard here…we have eight inches so far..and the roads aren’t plowed in my townhouse area…so I can’t go anywhere.I am going out to snowshoe and take some photos in a little while…

I so wish i had been there. Phantom of the Opera is my favorite theatre, just wonderful.

@Borelfoto - Randy, did you see pics of WPPI where it looked empty? I have no idea what the stats would be compared to last year but it seemed pretty packed to me.

@chrisfawkes - I wish you could have made it, too! I am glad we went to the competition judging. We would have chosen a different lab as we noticed that the print quality wasnt as good as what we were seeing out there! And we would have cropped differently. Oh well there is always next year… : )
Mark should be posting up some Vegas pics tonight or tomorrow morning… we spent today with Jayden and took sooo many pics since we missed him so much! So hopefully we can get some of those up, too.

@kanipark - It was crazy. It was a frenzy of people trying to get their shots in of the models. So unfortunately there is alot of photogs in the pic. They would just walk right into your frame! weird!
I hope they do a bit more planning next year.

LOL! Yes we would let you stow away any time! Next year it will be at the MGM so it should be alot easier to navigate with everything in one area. Mark is furiously working on editing the pics to post up soon!

@portiajules - yes they were as well as my step father. I also have a niece who is deaf she is my husband’s brother’s daughter.
@lydellphoto - I did the show “Children of a Lesser God” in college so I learned some sign language then…how interesting..the church I go to has a very active deaf ministry..sometimes I just sit and watch the interpreters…
what a great story. i have a good friend whose parents were deaf. i tried to learn some sign language, but without a lot of practice and use, i’ve forgotten a lot of it.
That’s so awesome.
Our church has a deaf ministry. They have chapel (Sunday church service) during the reg. 2nd service. They have a class going on to teach others ASL too. They do so much here. It’s a great ministry for this area since I believe we’re the only church with that option.
God is doing amazing things in our world today… the Word is going out! Amen!

AMEN!!! One thing I’m excited about is that the deaf are being encouraged to lead. Australia has a totally different mindset. I was reading an article from, I think, Chrisma magazine about Pastor Brian H. from the Hillsong church, and he says the Assemblies of God there is a bit different than here, much more prone to what we wimpy Americans would call “risk taking”. In my days of coordinating a worldwide deaf program for the church I was in, I got to know some Australian interpreters… they say Australian sign is closer to ASL than it is to British Sign. Btw when I started teaching I thought I was leaving the deaf community. Now, teaching ASL and being around the DHH program AND just “happening” to find a church I like, that just “happens” to have deaf people and interpreting, I think Somebody wants me back in the deaf community again:)

i forgot again where you said you lived out there. all of these places are so famliar. when i moved away from folsom my ex moved to lincoln and that is where my oldest son “technically” lives although he is in davis right now finishing up his senior year. i ought to get chris to call you and invite you take pics inside the capitol over in the restricted governor’s area. it is gorgeous! you might even bump into the governator. 
p.s. i forgot to explain that chris is an intern for the governor. otherwise if you didn’t know that my comment above would seem strange! LOL :p

We actually did an engagement shoot at a restaurant that the Gov eats at all the time. The next time we went we sat at a table next to The Fonz ( Henry Winkler and Cindy Williams aka Shirley from Laverne and Shirley. We had our cameras but we didnt take one of them because we didnt want them to feel uncomfortable.
