Tomorrow is our 28th Anniversary!! But we celebrated it today since tomorow we are celebrating Dave’s birthday. Then on Sunday we will be busy with a wedding! So today was the day. Mark took me to La Provence a french restaurant here in town. 0 votes We not only spent Lindsay’s birthday there last week...

@dimsom - Yeah I brought along the 5D and then realized right away that the battery was low. Got one shot and phfft! So our came the point and shoot. Didnt do too badly! The last shots of me were taken at home with the 5D…Yes we have the Fountain of Youth here in Roseville! Thanks for all the compliments!! My daughter Kelly does my hair. She is sooo good! She is available if any ladies want to have her come do your hair! Guys too!

I do find myself having to do a lingo switch whenever i come over to the states. Like calling my jumper a sweater or saying “two weeks” instead of “a fortnight” Cell phone instead of mobile phone. 200 years from now i’m wondering just how much our languages will be different or wether with constant updates in communication that words and lingo will just end up becoming part of all our common language.
@chrisfawkes - “200 years from now” now that would be interesting to know! Language is such an interesting topic.
I just love this image…I try to get at least one of these kinds of shots whether it is with just the bride or the bride and groom alone. But in the timetable of the day sometimes you just have to walk on by those visions you have. One day I think I will write a little ditty on the importance of allowing some latitude if your photographer has a vision for a shot. Its hard because you know they under such stress to keep to the timeline or gotta get back to the reception because our friends want to party…thank God we have had such great couples that are up for it!:goodjob:

We get about three hours, sometimes more to spend with the bridal party. So coffee shops or various locations are always on the agenda.
Though i have always scheduled the day that way for weddings i’ve shot in the U.S
At first i didn’t realize and so just created my schedule as i normally would and about the third wedding in i realized what the guest meant when we arrived for the reception and they were saying it was quite an untraditional wedding.
Why not try it with couples and see if they go for it. Just tell them it’s the new thing going. I figure if we can sell trash the dress sessions there would also be a market who would jump at getting extra shots on the day.
Back in the nineties night shots after the reception became a bit of a thing. So after a full day shooting we would still be going to 3-4am, thank god those days are over. (my longest wedding 22 hours shooting)
i think i read that Jim Garner offers extra time to clients in rangefinder.

Well, put it this way…during wedding season I’m tempted to put my picture on the side of a milk carton…I’m ALWAYS camped out at the computer.
Actually Photoshop is just the tip of the iceberg. The who editing process starts with Lightroom which is where most of the time is spent. Since we shoot with several people and there are multiple cameras I always have a LOT of images to sort through to get the final images. Then before all the images are shown to the client we need to assemble the slideshow which is usually at least a day to get that laid out, edit and import the music tracks, output to the final show and upload to the web for everyone to see. The entire editing process front to end usually runs at least 60-80 hours per wedding, so trying to put those hours in while still shooting weddings and keeping up with the other demands of the bis are more than a full time job. But I love it!
My wife and I have been at war for most of our marriage, anduntil recently I never even realized it….It’s one of those quiet wars where nothing is said, but you can tell by our actions. It’s a very serious matter and I’ve wondered if there is counseling for this, and today I even Googled...

IF you have animals, like cats or ferrets, then you MUST put it over the top. Or else you risk having a papered house if you ferret gets particularly bored or in the mood to nest. :laugh: It’s mind boggling just how fast and far they can run with TP in their mouths and NOT have it tear.
we hang it over the top just because when I clean I have a bad habit of making the end of it into a little triangle like at the hotels. LOL. it dont really matter here, as long as there is some there when we go! LOL.
This is serious. It’s over the top, reason being that the TP will thus hang down away from the wall on which the roll holder is mounted. You don’t wanna be hittin’ that wall everytime, and if everyone does it, you’ll have an increased chance of transfering an infection. Also, if using someone else’s…I leave it be, it’s not my place…
Mine is always over the top, hers is always the opposite and it drives me crazy! And yes, if I’m at someones home and I use there bathroom and they are out of TP, I check under the counter to see if they have some and replace it for them.
Speaking of Tp have you noticed the cost now at Sams and Costco for a Charmain 32 pak? $18.00!! All paper products have gone sky high in the past two years. A 3lb bag of Walnuts last year was only $8.43 at Sams Club, now if over $15.00 per bag!!

First, let me just say I’m pretty anal about this subject. Over the top is absolutely correct. Believe it or not, I’ve actually changed it at someone else’s house before, but I don’t anymore because I’ve accepted the fact that most people will, in the end, learn from their own mistakes. (But I’ll be sure to correct it at your house if it’s not right when I use the bathroom. :giggle:!)
Secondly, early on in our marriage I asked George if he cared one way or the other which way the paper hangs..he said he didn’t, so I called dibs on hanging it over the top. And we’ve lived happily ever after since.
Truth is…I’m happy when there’s a roll there at all and the last person hasn’t left it empty…:goodjob:
Is there a household anywhere where this has not been an issue at some time – lol ! At least there haven’t been thousands of deaths in this war…
How come all the TV remote controls in the house are at her command, when Im the one who paid for all the TV’s??!! She has to always be the one who checks all the stations first to see if anything is on that she thinks we would like to watch, and after slowly going through about 50 stations, finally throws the remote at me and I find something in less than a minute!! This Saturday will be our 22nd anniverary and I’m thinking about getting her one of those really big high end remotes that control everything from the lights in the house to the flushing of a toliet with so many electronic buttons on it she wont be able to figure it out and then I will have control again! A-ha!:laugh::lol::laugh::lol::laugh::lol::p:yes:
War???!!! Before you start gloating Mark…Let’s talk about an even more serious bathroom problem and that is falling into the toilet in the middle of the night!!! :nono:
As to the piddly (pun intented):rolleyes: toilet paper issue… I find it easier to just give it a spin since I dont always know which way it is going to go. That has become my habit of getting my squares by just spinning it. Pulling it away from the top just seems wrong from the angle of our toilet to the roll…I can see how it might work to some advantage in some situations but not all…I am an equal opportunity toilet paper hanger. So if you pull from the top so be it…but I am afraid from where I sit it just begs to be spun with the squares landing just right. It is a science! :giggle:

Im just happy we have TP and really dont care which way it goes as long as when Im visiting someones home or business that they have it when its needed. Have you ever gone to a friends house for a party or dinner, to only find out after you’ve sat down to look over and there is NO TP!!! You look over and open the cabinet under the sink and still no TP or kleenex, nothing! What do you do then? This is when your cell phone comes into play and you make that embarressing call to your spouse and tell them you are stranded, stranded on a toilet bowl, what will you do when you’re stranded, and you can’t find a roll!! hey that was a song we used to sing as kids! Ha!

No matter where I go if it’s the other way I go and turn it over the top.
I’m the same way with paper towels. I even change the tp around in public places too that’s if they don’t have these things around them where you can not get them out cause the thing is locked.

seeming as how this subject seems so serious, it should be a part of an agreement signed before marriage. maybe if we offer this service in addition to our photography services, we can get more referals? so not only do we document their special day, but we also help them get rollin’ (pun intended) =P in terms of the whole falling in the tiolet issue, it’s just a matter of lookin’ before tinklin’…goes for both male and females…

So funny!!! I don’t have that battle since I live alone, but perhaps I can give you a word of wisdom. I have this clear thingy that fits over the roll and it holds a second roll. Maybe you could get one of those and one roll could be for you and the other roll for your spouse?????

Funny, I have had so many cats in my lifetime and that only happened once and that was to a friend’s house. I always keep my bathroom door shut so my cat does not go in there. She would rather play with the bathmat anyway…lol

@lydellphoto - We had two ferrets when I was in middle/high school. Both of them ‘nested’ which meant anything soft and fluffy was fair game. And it didn’t matter who might be over visiting. They’d come dashing through the living room TP streaming behind them, or a pair of undies that didn’t quite make it into the hamper clutched in their teeth. Quite the conversation starter!
Oh man that is embarrassing!!! The undies part anyway…lol the tp would be hilarious to see!

@Shutterbugd - OHHHH!!!! I would have never ever ever guessed that one! I am afraid to ask what PIMP is! Well I just got in our mini getaway was just that! MINI! Haha…thats okay we packed alot into it. We had the best unit (we hav e Trendwest Timeshare and we never know what unit we will get. We had the best view overlooking the golfcourse. This was the Angels Camp Resort we went to. We have a bunch we can go and use throughout the US and other countries too…We jsut love it and it has been the best investment!!!
Anyway, we saw Steve Miller and Joe Cocker at The Iron Stone Winery Ampitheatre. So cool….We spent the day coming home stopping at all the little towns along the route back home and got out our cameras and tripods and just enjoyed shooting fun stuff. We even met a really nice photographer in Jackson who we hope to meet up with again. Loved her stuff!!!
Well I gotta keep moving the part I hate about coming home is unpacking…
